City of Andrews, TX

Water Production and Distribution

Water Production

The City of Andrews provides drinking water from the Ogallala Aquifer, which has naturally-occurring fluoride at 5.1 mg/l. Currently, the city operates water wells in the Florey, DCP and University Fields. Average monthly production is 60 million gallons pumped with a daily usage of approximately 2 million gallons.

For additional information on the aquifers in Texas, please refer to the Texas Water Development Board Website.

Operators
Operators are certified and licensed by the TCEQ. The City utilizes a SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system which automates the entire water system. With the SCADA control process, the Andrews Pump Station is able to communicate via a radio system with the wellfields, wellfield pump stations, and elevated towers. This computerized control process allows for the efficient and effective distribution of potable water to the public.
