Text My Gov

City of Andrews is launching a new feature “Text My Gov”, a citizen-to-city communication platform that is available 24/7.  Skip a phone call and use your mobile phone to find information, report issues, receive alerts and more – all via text messaging, using keywords (such as street, landfill, swimming pool, alley, bill pay, etc.).  

In looking for ways to improve communication with our residents, and after looking at other platforms, we believe it is all about convenience and TextMyGov was the best fit.  We believe this is one avenue the city can utilize to better serve our citizens.  A lot of people have smartphones, and those who do text regularly.  

Need to know when the landfill is open, simply text “Landfill”.  Using artificial intelligence, TextMyGov can answer questions, send a link to our website, provide details on garbage pickup, office hours and more using an automated reply.  You can get information or see a response from the City with little effort and at no cost or app to download.  

Need to relay information to the City, simply text one or two-words to begin.  TextMyGov will display a series of steps to report an issue.  Code complaints, public works issues like potholes, signage, and drainage problems can be reported directly to the appropriate city department and can include a picture, description, or other information. 
Text “Hi” to 432-223-9002 any time, 24/7 to opt-in.  Save this number to your contacts for future use.  Once you have opted-in, you can then send a single word like “potholes” and you will receive a response. 

TextMyGov also give citizens an option to receive notifications from the City, such as emergency information, road closures, water outages and more.  You can opt-in to receive city-wide notifications or for a specific area of town.
