 Minimum Requirements:
All applicants must meet all the requirements of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement standards and education for licensing of peace officers.

Must pass a reading comprehension test , thorough background investigation, polygraph, oral board interview, and a psychological evaluation.

Cannot have any Class B Misdemeanors (within previous 10 years) or ANY Class A Misdemeanor or Felony offenses within the lifetime of the applicant. Offenses from other states will be related to comparable Texas State Statutes.

Cannot have any convictions in any court of an offense of Family Violence, as defined under Chapter 71, Texas Family Code.  

Salary

Police Recruit Salary                                                                                                                $46,800.00

Certified Officer less than 12 months                                                                                   $52,400.00

Certified Officer with  12 months to less than 5 years experience                          $53,691 to $58,573

Certified Officer with  5 years or more                                                                          $56,287 to $85,996

*Starting salary for certified officer is at the Chief’s discretion, based on job experience and other factors.
