Andrews is located in West Texas, on the border with New Mexico, approximately 110 miles southwest of Lubbock and 35 miles northwest of the Midland-Odessa area. Andrews County was settled in 1876 and has a population of 14,786. The only incorporated city in the county, Andrews has a population of 11,088. (cen. 2010).  The City of Andrews encompasses 6.90 square miles.

Andrews is considered a rural community with a petroleum and agricultural-based economy. It lies in the heart of West Texas cattle and ranching country. Agriculture, primarily livestock production, was the first industry that helped bring pioneers to the area. However, oil and gas exploration/production is the region’s mainstay. The oil and gas industry continues to be a major source of private sector employment. 

The Permian Basin region of West Texas is a semi-desert region with hot summers and mild winters.  In the Spring, winds can be extreme. Annual rainfall averages 10-14 inches.

Andrews’s schools are recognized for their academic and athletic excellence. Athletics programs have claimed numerous state titles including baseball and boys and girls golf. There are three elementary schools grades (K-5), one middle school (6-8 grades) and one high school (9-12 grades).
