Located 45 miles northwest of Midland and 35 miles north of Odessa, with a combined population of approximately 200,000 thousand people, the Midland/Odessa metropolitan area along with Lubbock 108 miles north, Andrews is centrally located in the Permian Basin.
The warm climate, friendly people, and central location are the primary reasons for the city’s popularity. Low humidity, combined with warm days and cool nights, contributes to the year round comfort. Residents enjoy over 300 days of sunshine each year. The average heat index for Andrews during the summer is lower than that in Dallas, San Antonio, or Austin. During the winter, the climate is mild, similar to other desert climates in the southwest.
A combination of factors, including a low crime rate, ample water supplies, quality law enforcement and fire protection, results in a sense of security and a high quality of life.
Andrews has 2 city-maintained parks while Andrews County has 6 parks. Facilities in these parks include picnic area, playground equipment, jogging trails, hike and bike trails, a public swimming pool, baseball and softball fields and two skate parks, one for skateboards and the other for bikes. The county also maintains a 18-hole Golf Course. A wilderness area with bird viewing site is easily accessible.
Continuing residential and retail growth is helping make Andrews the fastest growing micropolitan city (city with 10-50K pop. adjacent to MSA) in Texas. We have plenty to offer and is a great place to call home.
