NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR PARAMEDIC

The Andrews Department of Public Safety is made up of 17 officers and 7 Emergency Response Personnel, including the Chief of Police, Dolphus (Bud) Jones. The City of Andrews provides police service for approximately 10,000 residents of the City. The department also provides emergency medical services for all of Andrews County serving approximately 13,500 residents. Andrews County utilizes a central-dispatch system. All 911 and emergency calls are routed through the Andrews Sheriff's Department and dispatched to the appropriate personnel. This process produces optimal performance while maintaining a minimal staff, leaving needed positions available to better serve our community.

With the new fiscal year 07-08, the City of Andrews created a new position for a Patrol/School Resource Officer. Jason Harper was hired in 2007 through an inter-local agreement between the City and school system as the School Resource Officer. His daily appearance at the high school and middle school has helped maintain peace and stability on the school grounds.

All of our officers are certified in Emergency Services as paramedics and EMT's. Some of our staff participate as members of the Regional Advisory Council under the Texas Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Management.

    The Staff consists of:

  • Chief of Police: Bud Jones
  • Captain: Mike Angel
