EXTREME WILDFIRE THREAT

Extreme fire weather conditions are expected to be widespread over much of the Permian Basin beginning Thursday, February 23rd.  A powerful system will pass across Texas bringing with it high  winds with gusts of 35 to 50 mph and low relative humidity.

These conditions increase the potential for fire starts, with fire rates of spread in grass fuels could reach 4 mph with flame lengths 10-12 feet.  This equates to flames the height of a one story building burning the length of a football field in one minute.

Please be diligent in safeguarding your surroundings if working with flammable materials.
